If you don't have a ceramic dish for burning incense papers (or even if you do), try these burners, jan. Now available in terracotta, metallic, and taupe. 

This burner, created by Papier d'Arménie, is called the "Star of Armenia," perhaps referring to the six-pointed star used for thousands of years in Armenian architecture and as a decorative motif.

Place a strip from one of Papier d'Arménie's incense booklets into the dish, light the strip, cover with the dome, and allow the perfume to diffuse through the dome as the incense paper slowly burns.
