About the Magazine:

About the January Issue:

Issue No. 17 | The Tower of Babel

Yelena Ambartsumian explains the history of the Zeytun Gospels, the canon tables of which are housed at the Getty Villa, the site of the recent Palisades fire. Then, we interview Maria Sarkisian, founder and executive director of the non-profit Miaseen, who continues her family legacy of service to the homeland. At a time when attention is diverted from Armenia and its security, Miaseen is doubling down on the most vulnerable border regions, and investing in a hub in Kapan. Next, we interview Lilly Torosyan, a prolific writer (one of our favorites) and the new editor of the Armenian Weekly. Lilly shares with us her travels through Western Armenia, coming within meters of her mother's ancestral village. The trip was "the most contradictory, heart-wrenching, and dis-orienting experience I could describe." But it forever changed her. Finally, we end with the Learn for Artsakh Initiative's translation of In Solitude: How My Cries Can Reach the Next Generation by Leonid Karakhanovich Hurunts.
